A good page on buying an IK and this page is useful for kayak shape terminology.

White Water Massif Central
Rivers Publishing (2002, 160pp. £14.95)
Despite an off-putting title, this is actually an inspiring guide to the easy 'family friendly' rivers of southern France where the author spent many years as a canoe guide. It includes the famous Tarn, the sedate Dordogne, the Herault and the sporty upper Allier. The cover photo is about as hard as it gets and with accurate descriptions of rapids, weirs and glissades (exhilarating weir slides) plus simple maps, it all adds up to perfect IK touring territory.

It may be due for an update but in my experience nothing's changed much in this lovely part of France. Hop on a Ryanair to Rodez or a Eurostar to Clermont and have yourself a great holiday.
Click the cover for more but don't be put off by Rivers Publishing's basic website, the book's worth every penny.

Two seven-minute youtube vids of a brave, eight day paddle around most of Kauai, Hawaii in a pair of Sunnys - and I don't mean Ray-Bans.
